The Coming of Spring!

The spring of the year is a favourite season for many people, and it is certainly easy to understand why.  Spring is when the earth comes back to life after a long cold winter, and this is when the first flowers begin to bloom and the green world starts to return after the long winter sleep.

The power of spring and its regenerative effects are evidenced by the fact that most religions include a major holiday in the spring season.  From Passover to Easter, it seems that every culture marks the return of spring with a celebration of renewal and new life.  It is very easy to understand, how in ancient times,  cultures were overjoyed by the beauty and power of new life in the spring.

Springtime is an important season for many hobbies like gardening.  For the gardener, the spring is one of the most pleasant times in the garden.  The spring is the time when the bulbs that were carefully planned in the fall begin to grow and blossom.  This is the time of year that the first seedlings are carefully planted in the garden.  There is no doubt at all that springtime is one of the most beautiful and colourful seasons of the year for the gardener.  My mother-in-law could never wait to see those first green shoots of the daffodils, tulips and other bulb flowers peek through the earth.

The spring is also a favourite time of year for home improvement projects that could not be started while the weather was too cold.  Whether is is a small project like installing new downspouts or a large project like building a new garage or updating the office, the spring is one of the best times to work at improving the value of your home.  In the spring, the weather is usually good as far as temperatures and there is plenty of daylight for the work to be done.  It is no wonder that the spring season is one of the busiest for home improvement stores.

For the outdoor sports enthusiast, there is nothing like the coming of spring season.  For fishermen, this means the first day of trout season.  For the hiker, spring means that those favourite trails are no longer impassable due to snow, and for the horseback rider, it means that a ride without bundling up in coats and boots is now possible.  And, of course, spring means the opening of baseball season, a joy for spectators and players alike.

For us, spring means opening up our home at Kennisis Lake after our return from our winter season in N. Ft. Myers, Florida.  We love being back home, getting the boat in the water, and putting in the dock.  It also means having fun time with family and friends.  For NightinGail Photography, it means the start of wedding season and this year, portraits at the cottage.  We are really excited.

No question, we are all glad that spring has finally arrived.
